Rating: Maybe worth trying if you're a fan of the stereotypical South American red wine profile, but not an inherently loveable wine. $10-ish

Famous for their single vineyard Malbecs and Cabernets, the Alamos line is their second label made from younger vines.This wine is dense in color to be sure, with a lot of flavors happening. Unfortunately, they are too opposing of one another. Tastes of chocolate competing with green pepper make for an overly acidic wine, rather than a rich one. It's not a very pleasing wine in the mouth. Medium bodied.
We've enjoyed this wine much more in past vintages.
It's possible this wine just needs some time in the bottle. In fact, we let this one sit for over a week (gassed) after opening and retasted it. The harshness of the acids had softened a bit, but we still found it to be lackluster.
We paid $9.99 for it, but have seen it priced anywhere from $7.50 to $12.99. Available pretty much everywhere.
