Review: 2008 Kopriva Unoaked Chardonnay Carneros $17
From the Cassidy Ranch, these folks make only one wine and this is it. Kopriva is Czech for "nettles", so named for the stands of nettles growing along the creek bed lining the property

So, what about this wine? It's produced with no oak, no malo, and yielding almost no residual sugars. The result is pure chardonnay - and it shows. The color of Sauvignon Blanc, this Chard is different. Like a brisk morning walk without a sweater - clean, cool, aromatic. Light-bodied and acidic, and very European in style. Lovers of full-bodied California Chardonnay will find this to be a radical departure from the norm.
If you are a fan of the deliberately juicy chardonnay or the risen bread and butter flavors, this is definitely not for you, but if you want to try something unique and very limited in production (299 cases) and availability, contact Myles McMonigle at Kopriva. 707-933-9855 or info@koprivawine.com
