Review: 2010 St Francis Chardonnay Sonoma County $14
(Full disclosure: this wine was received as a press sample.)
Despite recent complaining about the heat and the 2010 vintage in northern California, this Chardonnay is a welcome diversion. Yes, it's everything you've come to expect from a California Chardonnay, but rather than being an overblown alcohol flab bomb, it's an irresistible quaff with focus and balance. Appealing for its mid-weight body that unfolds easily with ripe flavors, it has a lovely, supple texture.
As always, empirical evidence trumps analysis - and the first two pours of this wine disappeared in an instant. Bravo.
