Grape jelly purple with a brooding opacity and a thick, rich nose, this Chilean value is packed with dense, fresh black and blue fruits. Broad-shouldered thanks to its tannic structure, the acidity here is surprisingly focused for such an inexpensive wine. Uncomplicated by oak, the tooth-coating carmenere character speaks for itself. While not terribly complex, it is very well made and organically-formed. Should hold up well to mid-term cellaring, which should help relax the density into sex appeal, too. 90 Points. (Sample)
