The search for tequila that tastes like tequila continues, this time wading into the crowded celebrity spirits market. Duane 'The Rock' Johnson's Teremana tequila enters a competitive landscape with a more sane price point than many other celebrities. The blanco retails for around $28/750ml, but falls short of remarkable. The nose is warm, round and inviting with high-frequency floral spiciness over a foundation of straightforward agave aromas. But on the palate, the same notes are disjointed, and the lack of cohesion leaves the alcohol on its own, making for a hot drink. On the plus side, there's some purity here that hasn't been weighed down with clumsy additives and cream-flavored oak. As such, it'd probably be a fine mixer, but at this price it ought to stand more confidently on its own. 87 points
