Crazy Beautiful Wines is a project sourcing simple, honest wines from Italy, Argentina, and France, with one red (or rose in the case of French bottlings) and one white from each region. The two reds below share an unexpected, but wholly welcome quality in common: they are uncomplicated. The sangiovese is, as you'd expect, lighter and the kind of easy-going wine you could gulp down for days on end. There's a little more heft to the malbec, again, just as you'd expect. The moderate alcohol and sustainable farming methods deliver a body and mind-friendly beverage that you'll be glad is bottled by the liter. At around $17 apiece, the 750ml equivalent by volume is under $13, but a few glasses into these and you'll be wondering why anyone bothered with the puny 750. 90 points, but the night is young...
