Just returned from a trip to Sonoma County, where, in the town of Healdsburg, someone has had the audacity to open a wine shop (Ciao Bruto) selling only organic/biodynamic French and Italian wines. Though it might be heresy in these parts, it's also where I picked up this, the best wine of the trip. It says something that, when literally surrounded by wineries from the Russian River, Alexander, and Dry Creek Valleys, I'm still finding treasure in Italy.
2020 Luigi Giordano Dolcetto d'Alba $25 Amazing. Soft, pure, honest, fresh, and poised. Simple, yet magical. At 12.5% you'll find it difficult to resist gulping your way through the bottle. From just outside the town of Barbaresco, where nebbiolo reigns supreme, making this and dolcetto very unusual. Bravo! 93 points.
