It's so unusual to see a piedmont wine at a grocery store anymore, let alone one below $25, so I snatched this 2020 Michele Chiarlo Barbera d'Asti 'Le Orme' up to have with chicken Parmagiana. Let's be honest: this is not a mind blowing wine. But it is honest, tastes like barbera, and was made in a fresh, rustic style that you'll find has a lot in common with house wines at restaurants across northern Italy. An and for that, you have to love it. Not to mention the extremely reasonable price tag of $13. Gulp, gulp. 90 Points
