Scarpetta's wines were born out of a restaurant partnership in Boulder, Colorado of all places. And for well over a decade, they've been supplying the market with Italian wines that sit at the intersection of quality, value, and availability. Frico is their second label, a more affordable entry into their line-up. These wines are everyday wines that echo authenticity without getting too geeky about it.
The 2020 Frico Sangiovese Tuscany $11 is in keeping with their aforementioned traditions. Fresh, clean, direct, and honest, this is an eminently drinkable red with broad appeal, and enough acidity to make it perfect for weeknight pizza, pasta, or workday recovery. There's a lot to love here, particularly at this price point. 90 Points.
