2019 Aridus Tempranillo Cochise County Arizona $50
Deep translucent color in the glass, with a brooding core and lighter edges. The aromatics are gregarious, offering generous fruit preserves and dusty spices. Wow. Very soft, velvety, and round in the mouth., like a thick cable-knit sweater. The generosity of dark fruit persists without being overly intense. Oak treatment echoes, but not in an overly complicated way, and honest tempranillo acidity whispers in the background. Finishes for miles and miles. Yummy and versatile. Also nice to see that they've managed to moderate the alcohol level since last vintage. (Sample.)
