I've tasted a lot of Aridus samples and, while there's some variability to the experience, sometimes they are brilliant. Today's wine is a case in point.
The 2019 Aridus Cabernet Sauvignon Arizona ($65) is a striking, sensational wine. Deep ruby in the glass, its aromatics are inviting, but nothing compared to the taste. This is a full-bodied wine with very soft, round edges and gobs of delicious ripe black fruit. Tannins are well-integrated, as are the fine-tuned oak and focused acidity. The texture is so velvety, I'm guessing the cab is softened by some merlot and/or petit verdot. Think of a casual cashmere sweater you can wear on a warm spring day. No question; this wine handily competes with big boys in Napa at a fraction of the price. Beyond merely good. 94 points.
