Summer's Lasting Hurrah

For many in the US, the recent break from this summer's typical heat has been a welcome reprieve. Wine consumption, in our household anyway, has tilted strongly towards lighter, lower-sugar wines that can hold a chill. If the forecast is any indication, fall's not here yet.

So, as the warm weather holds, here's a recommendation for a red that quenches and is no novelty, one-trick pony.

2023 Le Fraghe Bardolino $20
Luminescent and three shades lighter than any domestic pinot noir, this straightforward red is versatile and fun. Crunchy acidity and low alcohol make it too easygoing to pass up for anything from porch chit-char to grilled fish to a Caprese salad. And when the hot weather turns to those other seasons, a glass of this will remind you that summer is just around the corner again. 92 Points.
